Frank
Bockhoff
Cleveland Heights, Ohio
A
signature member of OWS, Frank was a professor and chairman
of the Chemistry Department at Cleveland State University.
He is a renowned researcher and very popular teacher.
Frank received his undergraduate degree from Case Institutel
of Technology and his PhD from Case Western Reserve University.
He was noted for his interesting and sometimes daring
demonstrations when teaching chemistry. His legacy as
a teacher is reflected in an annual award named in his
honor, which is given for excellence in undergraduate
teaching at Cleveland State. After almost 40 years of
teaching, he retired in 1990 to pursue his passion for
watercolor painting.

Frank
was devoted to transparent watercolor and was a popular
instructor; always eager to share his knowledge with students.
He exhibited and won awards in many regional and national
eshibitions. OWS member and longtime friend, Cathy Welner
discussed Frank and his painting in a 1994 Akron-Beacon
journal article. "He's what you call an artist's
aritst. He truly reflects himself in his work. He's honest,
he's direct, he's light." |
